Ring a First in February

What "Firsts" are you or your band planning to achieve? Ringing anything for the first time, any time in February, will be great.  However, this year there will be a particular focus on Quarter Peals, with a

Quarter Peal Firsts' Fortnight
between Monday 13 - Sunday 24 February.

If you have requested help to achieve a Quarter Peal First via the GoogleForm in the Jan/Feb Update, or volunteered to ring Quarters with others, or if Linda wrote your name on her spreadsheet at one of the ADMs, she will be in touch very soon!

Please submit any Firsts rung during the month of February to BellBoard
https://bb.ringingworld.co.uk/submit.php
and, once submitted, link them to the Bedfordshire Association's Ring a First in February event: https://bb.ringingworld.co.uk/event.php?id=16155

Good luck and enjoy achieving a First in February!

Ring for the King!

A TARGET FOR US ALL:
To ring the bells at every ringable tower in Bedfordshire
on or around Saturday 6 May for the Coronation of King Charles III

HOW CAN WE ACHIEVE THIS? ...

Christine Williams has very kindly offered to co-ordinate ringing across the county during the weekend of Friday 5 - Monday 8 May. In the March Update there will be a questionnaire to enable us to find out which towers might need assistance, and ringers who would be available to ring at other towers in addition to their own.

WHAT CAN YOU CAN DO TO HELP? ...
Please put the date of the Coronation in your diaries so that you are available to ring at your own tower, and to assist at others during the weekend.

Is there an opportunity  to recruit and teach new ringers in your area to Ring for the King?
To support public relations and recruitment activities ahead of the coronation, the Central Council has produced some materials to download and use as required:
https://cccbr.org.uk/bellringing/ring-for-the-king/
or a leaflet/poster which you can download and customise can be found on the BACBR website: Recruitment-ad-A4.docx (live.com)
If you have people keen to learn but nobody to teach them, please contact
president@bacbr.org.uk and we can look at what might be possible. Please note that, in this situation, potential learners would need to be prepared to travel to another tower to be taught to handle a bell.

Bedfordshire Young Ringers

Events for Young Ringers will resume in the Spring. These will be open to all ringers aged 19 or under, of all abilities, whether learning to handle a bell or beyond!  A great opportunity to have lots of fun, make new friends, ring with others of their own age, make progress with experienced tutors ... and eat cake! What's not to like?! Please look out for details in the March Update!

Other News and Events

Review of the Association: Progress Report

A very small amendment was made to the proposed new Association Objectives at the ADMs. The final version, which will be sent to the Charity Commission for approval, prior to a vote to adopt the revised objects at the AGM, is now on the website: https://www.bacbr.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Review-of-Association-Proposed-changes-to-Objects-Final-for-Charities-Commission.pdf

Updates from the Central Council of Church Bellringers

Do keep an eye on the Central Council website for wider ringing news, including the very readable weekly President's Blog (that's the CC President, not Linda!), resources and helpful information!

BOOKING FOR EVENTS
We often ask you to commit to events in advance via Eventbrite so that we know that they are viable and to assist planning. If you have registered, we can then also easily communicate any changes or additional information to you.
We do realise that Eventbrite is not everyone's cup of tea! However, using it to register for events makes admin for the organisers SO much easier ... saving us time and effort which we can then put into organising more and better events!! It also enables us to find out other information from you to assist with organisation.
Eventbrite does not cost us anything and is quick and easy for you to use.
We will only ever use your data for the purpose which it was given and will never pass on to third parties.
