Ring for the King!

Friday 5 May - Monday 8 May

We know that around 70 Bedfordshire towers are aiming to ring between 5-8 May for the Coronation of King Charles III. A great response!

After you have rung for the Coronation ....

So that there is a record of ALL the ringing which takes place in Bedfordshire for this historic occasion, please would conductors (or a nominated person):

1. Submit details of your ringing to BellBoard

2: Link it to BOTH of these events on BellBoard:

3. Please take a photo and upload this too!

To link to events and upload photos, after you have submitted your ringing, view the performance and you will see these icons at the top of the screen. Click on the pencil icon to get the drop down menu ....

If you have difficulty uploading details, please send an email to president@bacbr.org.uk or christine.williams.bells@gmail.com
and we'll do it. Please include date, tower, what you rang and names of ringers

More information about ringing for the Coronation is on the Central Council website,  including some special changes which you might like to try!

Bedfordshire's Preparations to Ring for the King in the media ...

One of the Ring for the King Bellhandling sessions was filmed at Biggleswade last week. Tune in to
ITV Anglia News on Thursday 4 May at 18:00
In total 24 students, have attended these sessions, assisted by 20 tutors. A big thank you to all!

In addition, The Dept of Culture, Media and Sport also made a short video for social media at Campton practice night. We'll post a link on Facebook and the website once available.

Thank you ...

  • to towers for letting Chris know of your plans and for all the co-operation between towers.
  • to individuals who volunteered to assist.  Most towers have now got a full quota but every offer of help was very much appreciated even if we haven’t had to call on you. Any unexpected problems with needing ringers at the last minute, please contact christine.williams.bells@gmail.com and she will try to arrange some assistance.
  • especially to Chris for all her hard work!

... and enjoy ringing for the Coronation!

Updates from the Central Council of Church Bellringers

Do keep an eye on the Central Council website for wider ringing news, including the very readable weekly President's Blog (that's the CC President, not Linda!), resources and helpful information!   https://cccbr.org.uk

Look out this month for details of Bell Sunday on 14 May 2023. This is a new event in the Church calendar aimed at raising the profile of bells and bellringers, and endorsed by our very own Bishop of St Albans, himself an accomplished ringer! Do talk to your clergy to see if this is something that could be marked in your church.

With everything going on with Ring for the King the week before, it is hoped that this event will help galvanise bellringing, church and community, and be another excellent way of keeping new recruits involved after the coronation. For more details, ideas and resources have a look at:  https://bellsunday.org/

BOOKING FOR EVENTS
We often ask you to commit to events in advance via Eventbrite so that we know that they are viable and to assist planning. If you have registered, we can then also easily communicate any changes or additional information to you.
We do realise that Eventbrite is not everyone's cup of tea! However, using it to register for events makes admin for the organisers SO much easier ... saving us time and effort which we can then put into organising more and better events!! It also enables us to find out other information from you to assist with organisation.
Eventbrite does not cost us, or you, anything and is quick and easy for you to use.
We will only ever use your data for the purpose which it was given and will never pass on to third parties.
