Second Saturday Training

at the R J Sharp Ringing Centre
at St Andrews Biggleswade

Next session: Saturday 12 August

PLEASE NOTE NEW TIMINGS:
10:00 - 11:00  Bellhandling
11:00 - 12:30  Foundation skills - rounds, call changes, Plain Hunt

These sessions are aimed at less experienced Bedfordshire ringers who would like to improve basic skills and confidence.

Due to demand, and to enable us to provide the best possible opportunities for everyone attending, we are making some changes to the format of the Second Saturday Training as follows

1. The morning will be divided into two sessions, with timings as above (and coffee between)
2. It would be really helpful if students and helpers could sign up in advance please as far as possible (see below) so that we know who is coming and can plan accordingly. (If you haven't signed up but find yourself able to come at the last minute, please do still come along.)

Students: Please sign up for either the bellhandling or foundation skills session by completing the googleform:  https://forms.gle/T2FrYEd5DRJdnjfF8  or contact Chris Williams christine.williams.bells@gmail.com

Helpers: you should already have received an email, containing a doodlepoll with dates until the end of the year. If you haven't yet responded, or if you would like to become a helper, please complete the doodlepoll:
https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/eX5PYxVa or contact Chris Williams  christine.williams.bells@gmail.com

Surprise Major Practice

The next practice is on
Sunday 20 August 14:30-16:30
at St Mary's Eaton Socon

THE FUTURE OF THIS PRACTICE IS UNDER REVIEW.
We do need more experienced ringers to commit to coming along to these practices in order to provide worthwhile opportunities for those with less experience to progress onto Surprise Major ... and of course to enjoy some advanced ringing yourselves!
Please sign up in advance so that we know if the practice is viable.
NB: I will no longer be sending out additional emails to chase people up!!!

If the practice isn't viable it will be cancelled and those who have signed up will be notified.

Please sign up by Friday 18 August if you are coming either by registering via this link (preferably):
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/surprise-major-practice-tickets-689349070627?aff=oddtdtcreator
or send an email to president@bacbr.org.uk

Look forward to seeing that lots of people have signed up for the practice at Eaton Socon!
:-)

Tower donation of £2 per ringer requested, payable on the day.

This advanced practice is aimed at ringers who:

  • can already ring Surprise Major inside
  • or have rung the treble to Surprise Major and have learned Cambridge S Major
  • or have rung Surprise Minor and would like to extend this to Major,

Dates for future practices: All 3rd Sundays (apart from December) on alternate months, as follows: 15 October, 3 December. 14:30 - 16:30  Venues tbc

Updates from the Central Council of Church Bellringers

Do keep an eye on the Central Council website for wider ringing news, including the very readable weekly President's Blog (that's the CC President, not Linda!), resources and helpful information!   https://cccbr.org.uk

BOOKING FOR EVENTS
We often ask you to commit to events in advance via Eventbrite so that we know that they are viable and to assist planning. If you have registered, we can then also easily communicate any changes or additional information to you.
We do realise that Eventbrite is not everyone's cup of tea! However, using it to register for events makes admin for the organisers SO much easier ... saving us time and effort which we can then put into organising more and better events!! It also enables us to find out other information from you to assist with organisation.
Eventbrite does not cost us, or you, anything and is quick and easy for you to use.
We will only ever use your data for the purpose which it was given and will never pass on to third parties.
