Important news for 2025!

Annual Subscriptions
A new way of paying from January 2025!

From 1 January, MemberMojo replaces our current Membership Management systems and enable us to operate more efficiently. MemberMojo is already used and endorsed by many ringing Associations ... see the article in the Christmas Ringing World, p1196!

If you receive this Update as a member, you should shortly receive an email inviting you to log into MemberMojo, to:

  • check that the details we hold for you are correct (All Resident, Associate, Life and Honorary Life Members) to facilitate our compliance with GDPR and to ensure that you continue to receive communications if you wish to do so.
  • pay your annual subscription (Resident and Associate Members) Please note: If you currently pay by standing order and this is due to go out early in 2025, this will be collected as usual. However, you will still need to create a MemberMojo account so that you can update the details we hold for you in the system. The option to pay by card is not yet set up, but we will inform you once this means of payment available.

The process is very straightforward and will take you only a few minutes!

We will also be using MemberMojo to send out this Update from February onwards,

We have put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions about using MemberMojo, including what to do if members of your tower do not have email / internet access, and a Step by Step Guide to using MemberMojo. These are available here:
https://www.bacbr.org.uk/membermojo-info/

We will also be on hand at ADMs to answer any questions you might have (although please do look at the FAQs first!) and to assist you with the process if required.

New Association Calendar for 2025

From February 2025 a new Association Calendar will be in place, offering a wide range of ringing and training opportunities, with something for everyone!

The provisional calendar can be downloaded as a pdf from here, with notes and a guide to which level of ringing each session will be focussing on:
https://www.bacbr.org.uk/events/forthcoming-events/

As this is the first Association-wide calendar, the General Committee will be keeping the programme under regular review. We will be asking for feedback from all Association members so that we know what practices, training sessions and workshops are working and what may need to be changed.

In due course, we will also be asking members to sign up in advance for many of these events, so that we know in advance which are viable.

Please note that at this stage all towers are to be confirmed. We will be contacting towers month by month nearer the time to confirm. However, if you are a tower correspondent for a tower mentioned in this calendar and you already know that ringing will not be possible that day please email Angela Blackburn at trainingofficer@bacbr.org.uk as soon as possible.

This provisional calendar will be updated as necessary during the year, once towers are confirmed and we know which types of events are working. The calendar on the home page of the Association website will be kept up to date and the monthly Members' Update will have the latest event news, so please do check these nearer the time of an event.

We look forward to seeing you at an event in 2025!

Ring a First In February

What would you / members of your band like to achieve for YOUR First in February this year? ....

When and where? Any time during February on a practice night, at an Association event or specially arranged just for you!

What? Here's some ideas for starters ....

  • First Quarter/ First Quarter of ../First Quarter as conductor/local band Quarter ..
  • Conduct call changes (to Queens and back)
  • 120 of Plain Bob Doubles (treble, tenor behind, inside bell or as conductor)
  • Ring the treble to a course of Treble Bob or Surprise Minor
  • Course/touch of Cambridge S Minor inside

How?  Can you arrange to ring this with your local band? If not then go along to an Association Meeting (Contact the Ringing Master trainingofficer@bacbr.org.uk in advance to check that what you are hoping to ring might be possible)
If you would like to attempt or need help with arranging a Quarter Peal, request help by emailing trainingofficer@bacbr.org.uk
We will do our best to facilitate.

DON'T FORGET! Please submit any Firsts rung during February to BellBoard  https://bb.ringingworld.co.uk/submit.php
and, once submitted, link them to the Bedfordshire Association's Ring a First in February event: https://bb.ringingworld.co.uk/event.php?id=20107
If you get stuck, email details to president@bacbr.org.uk

Good luck and enjoy achieving a First in February!

RIP

Cliff Izzard:
We’re sad to report that Cliff Izzard, Honorary Life Member of the Association, died at home on 10 December. Cliff’s contributions to ringing and the bells, especially at Kempston, were truly immense; not to mention the social scene that he engendered. We send our condolences to his family and many close friends at this time. Cliff’s funeral service will be at All Saints Church, Kempston on Wednesday 29th January 2025 at 11.00am.  The service will be followed by refreshments in the Church Hall.  For catering purposes – please let Helen Manktelow (helenmanktelow@gmail.com) know if you are attending.

BOOKING FOR EVENTS

We often ask you to commit to events in advance via GoogleForms or Doodlepolls so that we know that they are viable and to assist planning. If you have registered, we can then also easily communicate any changes or additional information to you.
We do realise that these are not everyone's cup of tea! However, using them to register for events makes admin for the organisers SO much easier ... saving us time and effort which we can then put into organising more and better events!! It also enables us to find out other information from you to assist with organisation.
GoogleForms or Doodlepolls do not cost us, or you, anything and are quick and easy to use.
We will only ever use your data for the purpose which it was given and will never pass on to third parties.
