Melville Cup 2011
September 17, 2011 5:06 pm | by admin | Posted in Melville Cup
Held on 17 September 2011 at Renhold
The Judges commented that both sets of ringing were very presentable and would be very acceptable as Wedding Ringing – a good benchmark to judge against.
Unfortunately, the Bedford District were unable to field a band.
| Drawn | Team | Judges Comments | Score | Placed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | Luton District | Used practice time very well, the test piece was much improved on this.
The piece was uneven to start, but without many faults; when rhythm set in the ringing improved considerably. |
13 faults | 1st |
| 2nd | Biggleswade District | Again used practice time well, the difference between the 1st pull off and the test piece was considerable. Towards the middle the test piece got a bit lumpy, but they seemed to “take a deep breath” and regroup for a good finish. | 30 faults | 2nd |
Congratulations to the (Luton District), who win the cup for the first time. It is good to know that in the four years that this Cup has been contested, all districts have now won on at least one occasion.
Thanks go to the Bedford District for their organisation and hospitality, especially to the Ringers and Incumbent of Renhold for making us so welcome and for the use of the bells.
