2026 Ringing Programme – update July 2026

In the Autumn of 2025 we asked for feedback on the new ringing programme and had a wide range of views, suggestions and much food for thought! In response we produced a new programme for the first half of 2026. We made things simpler and more regular. It was a compromise because it was impossible to take on board everyone’s suggestions. We’re happy for feedback as the programme rolls out and will make changes as we go through the year. Linda Garton was elected as Ringing Master at the 2026 AGM and has taken over responsibly for organising ringing events with a team of helpers. Please contact Linda, email ringing@bacbr.org.uk, if you’ve got ideas/suggestions for ringing events, you’re willing to host a ringing meeting at your tower or you’d like to help with event organisation.
For the time being we continue with:

No regular midweek meetings.
All meetings on Saturdays, except Young Ringers which remains on Sundays.
At least one General Ringing each month, generally on the first Saturday, which will include a short time to cover Business. The third Saturday will be used in months when the first isn’t suitable, for example around a Bank Holiday weekend. These meetings will alternate between 6 and 8 bell towers around the county.
‘Focus Practices’ not ‘Workshops’ – these will be suitable for a wider range of ringing abilities as the focus could cover several levels. The focus and suitability will be clarified for each session.
Focus Practices will generally be on the third and fourth Saturdays and will be at towers around the county.
Asking you to sign up for now – this helps us be confident that a particular session is viable. If viable meeting attendance becomes more reliable then this can be reviewed. At the moment sign up option is through the Member Mojo Store or via email to ringing@bacbr.org.uk
Other events, such as specific training or practices on higher numbers, can be arranged as and when there is sufficient demand and there is calendar space available.
A ‘Ring a First in February’ initiative.
The AGM on the third Saturday of May, for 2027 this is 15 May – venue and arrangements to be confirmed.

Please support the ringing meetings as much as you can and continue to give us feedback!

The calendar is on the website home page and will be updated as new events are organised. Please note that last minute changes may have to be made or a meeting cancelled due to lack of sign ups or other unforeseen circumstances. In which case those who have signed up will be contacted and informed directly. In addition, every effort will be made to update the Website and our Facebook page but this can’t be guaranteed.
