St Andrews, Biggleswade is home to the Ronald J Sharp Ringing Centre. It was set up during 2017 following the augmentation (from 8 to 10 bells) and refurbishment project carried out at St Andrews in 2016.
Grants from the Association’s Ronald J Sharp Fund were made for the equipment and towards the cost of a sound management system, which without the Centre wouldn’t be able to operate. Fittingly the Centre has been named as a tangible memorial to Ron Sharp.
The Centre has a computer based multi and single bell simulator system equipped with Abel, Virtual Belfry and Beltower applications, a dumb bell, full adjustable sound control, a set of hand bells, multi view CCTV so that the bells can be seen from the ringing chamber and the church, white boards and other training aids. The ringing chamber is a large, pleasant and comfortable space and an excellent environment for training and teaching activities. The Ringing Centre’s Operating Guidelines are here Operating Guidelines May 2018
The Ringing Centre is available for anyone to book for one-off sessions, regular practices or courses subject to availability. Suggested Ringing Centre event times are Saturday mornings 10.00 – 12.00 with the option of using Monday evenings, when the bells must be down by 9.00pm. Enquires can be made by email to Biggleswadebellringers@gmail.com
